Again i have gone off track with something that has caught my eye and my hippocket. The Sony Errison X1 is touted as the phone people are going ga ga for after the iphone. The X1 is Sony Errison’s up coming flagship model of Sony’s new Xperia range. It was first presented in the World Mobile Congress last february and has recently been announced to be realesed in Q2 2008. The new Xperia range will be a line of smartphones catering for the elite buisness world.

The reason why the X1 is recieving so much hype is that is packed full of features and new concepts by Sony. The phone which has been designed in conjuction with HTC is the first device to be powered by Windows Mobile by sony. The X1 like the Iphone is a jam packed smartphone sporting:

3″ 800×480 touchscreen, qwerty keyboard, 3G phone with video talk, push email, 3.2mp Camera with 30fps video, Bluetooth (A2DP), aissted GPS, WIFI, microSD expansion and Windows Mobile 6.1 on top of Sony’s Xperia panel

From the list you can easily tell where it get’s it’s hype from sporting nearly every modern phone functions. The X1 is basicaly a windows mobile smartphone tweaked by Sony. Sony has been flaunting it’s Xperia Panel which is a concept which allows the X1 to have multiple Windows Mobile profiles (e.g. work, play, multimedia). Each profile is set to cater diferent tasks with certain functions more prominent and on the idle screen (e.g. email on work screen). The phone which is based on Windows Mobile 6 will have the usual WM features such as office, Mobile Outlook, Internet explorer and Windows media which will be used for multimedia. The X1 though only has 400mb of space but will this time support MicroSDHC upto 32gb not Sony’s proprietary memory stick. A feature which has not been fully explained my Sony is the incoporation of aGPS in the X1. The X1 will no doubt be able to be used for directions as it will be very handy for the buisness amn on the go.

One of the most dassiling features of the X1 is it’s form factor. The X1 is a slider mcuh like the HTC TyTN II where a full qwerty keyboard slides out from the side. The unique thing about the keyboard Sony’s proud curved slide design out which tilts the screen up a bit when the keyboard is extended. The deign in general of the X1 is very sleek which comes in either a black or silver metal body. The most eyecatching feature of the X1 is the 3inch touchscreen which has an oustanding resouloution of 800×480pixels. This high resoloution enables the user to browse websites without needing to zoom in. The only drawback is the screen’s colour range is only 65k 16bit which is the average windows mobile specification.
