Breaking Bad Silence
Hooray for dark humour! A new series has boldly taken on this style where the big studios wouldn’t dare. The drama is only AMC’s second ever series for the channel which originated as a movie channel. Breaking Bad is a very grim and depressing story of a high school chemistry teacher turned methamphetamine cook (Not an area of specialty of mine) [Ed: I dispute that notion]. Breaking Bad has received initial critical acclaim where it has even received decent rating on Metacritic with 74 points. The show though has not been receiving the hype that it deserve as it is not being aired on a major network. It’s time to shed light on the little dull gem.
Basically Breaking Bad is about a fifty year old chemistry teacher going through a not so dull midlife crisis. Walter White’s mid life crisis is marked by doctors diagnosing him with stage 3 lung cancer giving him at most a few year to go. Instead of cowering and pinning Walter is “awakened” and gradually becomes fearless and ruthless. This change of heart is the meaning of the title ‘Breaking Bad’ where in the south (US) means to let loose, go crazy. Walter’s attitude helps him to deal with the many hurdles going in his life such as the never ending debt, a son with cerebral palsy and then a child on the way. Walter is lured into cooking meth when he goes on a raid for fun with his DEA agent brother in-law. (more…)
Takes the phone to the neX1 level
Again i have gone off track with something that has caught my eye and my hippocket. The Sony Errison X1 is touted as the phone people are going ga ga for after the iphone. The X1 is Sony Errison’s up coming flagship model of Sony’s new Xperia range. It was first presented in the World Mobile Congress last february and has recently been announced to be realesed in Q2 2008. The new Xperia range will be a line of smartphones catering for the elite buisness world.
The reason why the X1 is recieving so much hype is that is packed full of features and new concepts by Sony. The phone which has been designed in conjuction with HTC is the first device to be powered by Windows Mobile by sony. The X1 like the Iphone is a jam packed smartphone sporting:
3″ 800×480 touchscreen, qwerty keyboard, 3G phone with video talk, push email, 3.2mp Camera with 30fps video, Bluetooth (A2DP), aissted GPS, WIFI, microSD expansion and Windows Mobile 6.1 on top of Sony’s Xperia panel
From the list you can easily tell where it get’s it’s hype from sporting nearly every modern phone functions. The X1 is basicaly a windows mobile smartphone tweaked by Sony. (more…)
Not the only living Timelord
After the death of the Master in the modern series it seems the writer has confirmed the point the Doctor is the last of the Timelord race. Now the writer have pulled a rabbit out of a hat for tonights episode ‘The Doctor’s Daughter’ will introduce us to Jenny. In real life Jenny played by Georgia Moffett is the real life daughter of Peter Davidson the fifth Doctor. Making Jenny truly the daughter of the Doctor.
In last week’s teaser the Doctor is lured off course to the planet of of Messaline. A planet which is intwined in a planetary civil war, not the most impressionable place to find a long lost relative. Jenny is potrayed in the series as a tough warrior of prominent power. This could come in handy if Jenny would be implemented into the Doctor’s gang. Now composing of himself, Donna and Martha.
The fact that the writers have pulled a timelord out of the hat now questions how many other timelords will pop in for a visit. Tonight’s episode i believe a turning point of the TV show as Jenny if she survives the first episode will be a usefull character. I however doubt she would be come one of the doctor’s companions. These speculation though will be confirmed in tonights episode which from a TV.com survey many people will be expected to tune in.
Dreaming the Future
There has never been a definite scientific reason for the formation of the dreams we have. In recent times scientists have come to conclusion to believe it a reflection memories, fears, hopes, and desires. Then there are the physiological explanations that it is just a combination of random firing neurons in the brain. Somehow these random firings in most people can create a whole image or sequence with a variety of senses utilized to combine into dreams. Nearly all people cannot fully control their dreams or fully remember it. We are so restricted in dealing with our dreams yet they seem to show images which really affect our lives symbolically or figuratively.
The images and messages they portray though is not very clear to most people. Some people have tried to provide services to interpret dreams by making a subjective message even more subjective. The type of dreams also varies distantly. Some which have significant personal meanings, to those where you wonder about you’re sanity. Then there are dreams which seem to be have been tampered with a higher power or the supernatural. Messages like repeating memorable dreams, bizarre but symbolic and the perception of the future may have occurred to some people. The reason for the formation of all these dreams is still unknown and left to randomosity.

Writer’s Srtike Aftermarth

The rain has come as the writers’ strike is over. But the long drought has left Hollywood brittle and parched as the writers’ strike has halted many plans and events. Who would have known a bunch of off screen paper churners would bring the whole entertainment industry down to the extent that the Golden Globes was desiccated.
It seems the WGAs (writers’ association) are so fired up because the writers aren’t getting a slice of the DVD sales pie. TV show DVD’s are not a very big seller. They’re lucky that the DVD buyers haven’t discovered p2p or torrents. What they should be more scared of is the internet. (Lets hope they never get fired up about the internet. Imagine what they’ll do. Kill the internets?)
This squabble over a slice of old pie about to be rotten pie has caused havoc already. Without the writers creating the scripts for shows has been left many shows without a storyline. Many shows have had to end their season early and continue later in a new season. Show like Heroes, Pushing Daisies and Bones had to or will run until they ran out of episodes and end the season abruptly. Most of these shows are betting on the next season overcome the disturbance. Some of the more resilient names in show biz such as Desperate Housewives, The Office and Scrubs have just gone on a break or temporary gap (a nice interseason holiday for the crew). Then there are the shows who were left out to dry with their futures uncertain. The seventh season of 24 is the hardest hit as it was scheduled to begin during the writers’ strike and it was necessary for the season for the show to have 24 episodes. The dwindling franchise would have problems keeping ratings if they had to halt seasons as it is episode intensive. The writer’s strike also weeded out those shows that were not faring well. Show like Bionic Woman that had horrid ratings was put on hiatus with future episodes or seasons in limbo. Reports say that Bionic Woman has been cancelled has been raised but not confirmed.
